Engineering graduates from Nigerian universities are in charge of vehicle assembly in the ultra-modern Kia vehicles assembly plant in Lagos. The plant which has produced over 2500 units of vehicles since its inception in April last year now produces nine different models of Kia and their respective trims.

This was revealed during a recent facility tour by auto journalists to the plant in Lagos. The tour was conducted by the management of the plant which include Chief Operation Officer, Gitesh Yagnik; Chief Commercial Officer, Sandeep Malhotra and Supply Chain Manager, Yemisi Onanuga.

The complex of the plant has been built to the high standard of KIA Motors Corporation. Technologically advanced equipment have also been installed and the staff have been properly trained which makes the plant to now proudly produce best-selling Kia models such as Kia Rio, Cerato, Optima, Sportage and the all-new 2015 Kia Sorento which was recently unveiled globally.

Kia Nigeria trained and qualified 150 engineers from Nigerian universities to be able to perform their various assembling duties. According to them, the engineers now have requisite skills that can be compared to international standards
